Adaklu Celebrates District Farmers’ Day

Adaklu District had observed its 9th celebration of District Farmers’ Day to mark the 36th National Farmers’ Day celebration.
The event which was on the theme “Ensuring Agribusiness Development Under Covid-19, Opportunities And Challenges” was hosted by Adaklu- Helekpe and chaired by Togbe Asamoah of Ahunda- Bosso.
Both the District Chief Executive- Phanuel Kadey Donkor, and the District Director of Agriculture- Mr Francis Seglah, lauded the Canadian and the Ghanaian government for the assistance they had been giving the agricultural sector in terms of funds and logistics.

The DCE specifically mentioned the government’s support towards Cashew and Coconut Plantation Projects under Planting for Food and Jobs.
He mentioned the ongoing Court Complex and Bungalow as some of many projects being undertaken in the district.
The acquisition of 51 acres of land to put up a Medical Village and a District Hospital was not left out of the Dce,s speech.

Mr Promise Heh – 2020 District Best Farmer

The Agric Director hinted of plans to begin training of the youth in rabbit rearing and free distribution of rabbit to them for rearing next year.
He praised those farmers who made their farms available as demonstration fields.
He didn’t minced words on the rice production potentials of Adaklu.
In all,13 individuals were awarded with Mr Promise Heh, from Hlihave emerging as the district best farmer .
He took home a tricycle, Knapsack Sprayer , Boxes of Keysoap , Cutlasses, Wellington Boots among others as his prize.
He cultivated several acreages of cassava, okro, tomatoes, pepper,plantain ,palm plantation as well as rearing of guinea fowl, birds , goats, cattle among others.
He advised the youth not to undermine farming since thus the venture the whole nation feeds on.
